This week I had the pleasure of exploring Intelligent Nutrients, a wellness powerhouse created by Horst Rechelbacher, founder of the Aveda Corporation (which is now owned by Estee Lauder). His newest project, Intelligent Nutrients is a certified organic, non-toxic plant based health and beauty company. Located on Hennepin Avenue at the edge of Northeast, Intelligent Nutrients comprises an organic retail store, education center, and Horst & Friends Salon. A couple of months ago I participated in a day of professional education that was led by Rechelbacher himself. I was so intrigued with the positive energy and clean lifestyle that IN exudes that I came back to dig a little deeper.
Armed with curiosity and an open mind, fellow blogger Fatima Olive and I set out to test the slew of organic products ranging from hair care, skin care, aromatics, supplements and even bug spray! Fatima and I both have professional pasts that include Aveda, so it was fun to see how Rechelbacher’s vision has evolved. The mantra of the company is very clear: “Everything we put in and on our bodies must be nutritious and safe.”
Lately I have been putting a lot of research into figuring out how the condition and growth rate of our hair is affected by what we put into our bodies. I was ecstatic to learn about the base of most of the Intelligent Nutrients products: Intellimune. Intellimune is the alpha and omega antioxidant that slows the signs of premature aging and promotes health. It protects against free radicals and supports healthy cell growth. Intellimune can be consumed in a pure form through tablets or oil. These products are made from seeds and are cold pressed for ultimate potency. According to representatives at Intelligent Nutrients, one serving of Intellimune equals the antioxidant power of 10 pounds of seeds from fresh berries! The tablets contain twice the amount of antioxidants in raspberries and blueberries and four times the amount of strawberries.
We started the Intellimune daily ritual by chewing four of the fruity tasting tablets. The oil can be consumed any way you like, but we opted to take it like a shot. Mixed with Orange Mango juice, we poured 2 teaspoons into a glass, and threw back the refreshing blend.
I must say I felt more “body-responsible” immediately. I’m choosing to start where it all began and pump in the antioxidants to care for my hair and the rest of my body.
