You’re known for your role on “Southern Charm” but you’ve made quite the shift into the home and lifestyle space. What inspired this change, and how does your brand tie into that journey?
It all started with my love for creating with my hands. I grew up cooking in home ec and always enjoyed crafting. It was therapeutic, and after a difficult breakup in my late 20s, I began sewing again, making my first pillow, and it was like a lightbulb went off. I realized I could share this passion with others. Sewing Down South was born from my love for home projects and DIY, and it grew into something that resonates with people who want to express themselves creatively, whether it’s through crafting or side hustles. It’s all about breaking down barriers and finding joy in hands-on projects.

How does your personal style influence your collections for Sewing Down South?
A lot of our initial designs were inspired by the coast since I’ve always lived near the shore. But as the brand grows, we’re expanding beyond just coastal chic. Our latest designs are inspired by all sorts of places, from mountain living to urban vibes. It’s all about evolving and designing from personal experiences, and we love to create pieces that connect with people’s memories and travels.

As someone who enjoys home improvement, what advice do you have for homeowners looking to add a personal touch to their spaces?
Start simple—painting is a great way to add personality to a room without breaking the bank. It’s inexpensive and can be a fun way to make lasting memories. I also love adding small touches with our Sewing Down South pillows, which refresh a room without needing to replace big furniture. And don’t forget about using online tutorials—there’s so much you can learn from YouTube to improve your skills, whether you’re sewing or doing home renovations!

You’re known for your fun, cozy holiday collections. What can Minnesotans expect when you’re in town for the Minneapolis Home + Remodeling Show?
Our new holiday collection just launched, and I’m really excited about it. It’s all about nostalgia and creating cozy, safe spaces, especially during the holidays. The designs evoke memories of past Christmases and cozy moments spent with family. This year, we’ve added new items like scented candles, which I think will become favorites—one smells like a Christmas tree, another like pumpkin pie, and we’ve even got an apple orchard scent. It’s all about evoking memories and emotions that make you feel right at home.

Any last thoughts for those attending the Home + Remodeling Show in Minneapolis?
I love meeting people who are passionate about home projects. Whether you’re crafting for fun or starting a side hustle, it’s all about doing what makes you happy. I look forward to sharing my story, answering questions, and seeing how others are incorporating creativity into their lives. It’s going to be a fun, positive experience.
