When russell+hazel launched in 2003, it was a pioneer of the stylish office supplies category. Founded by architect Chris Plantan, who was tired of buying bland, utilitarian desk accessories, the brand soon caught the eye of Martha Stewart, propelling it into the national spotlight.

After briefly opening a shoebox-sized outpost at Galleria, russell+hazel recently debuted a proper storefront in the North Loop. The new store, located between D.NOLO and Pacifier, is at least six times the size of its predecessor. Designed in partnership with interior designer and Martin Patrick 3 founder Greg Walsh, the space was built out of a historic warehouse and features all the requisite industrial charm—floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed ceilings, and cement pillars. The centerpiece of the store is its binder bars, which offer customization and monogramming options for russell+hazel’s signature three-ring binders and notebooks.

Tucked into the back of the space is a one-chair “style studio” helmed by nationally renowned hairstylist Pearson Knight, a backstage fixture at New York Fashion Week and an honoree of Elle magazine’s Genius Awards for hair. He recently launched PK Hair, his own line of environmentally friendly, high-performance hair products that contain vitamin B5 for shine and a scent Pearson, an avid surfer, describes as “fresh, clean, with a hint of vacation.” (More specifically, the fragrance’s keynote is cherry blossom.)

In addition to its own line of stylish office supplies and a capsule line of luxe leather handbags designed in partnership with Italian designer Kara van Petrol, the store is filled with a well-curated, highly giftable selection of products. Merchandise spans modern ceramics, stylish magazines and coffee table books, one-of-a-kind jewelry, natural skincare and cosmetics, and soaps hand-carved to look like gems. A brand that started with stylish office accessories has expanded to represent chic design across many facets of its customers’ lives.
