There was a time, back in high school, when I wore only Cover Girl blushes in shades of “dusty rose” or “mauve.” I thought I looked pretty hot (naturally, no boys confirmed this), but really—the blush was too brown for my sallow, olive skin. It wasn’t until I discovered Bobbi Brown’s cult-favorite Pale Pink blush that I realized what a little flush could do.
Nothing perks of skin like pink. It’s the most natural, youthful shade you can buy and it looks good on everyone. Trust me. Because unlike coral or peach, pink actually mimics that lit-from-within glow must of us can only achieve on a cold, winter’s day or from a heart-pumping workout. This is one case where the brighter the shade, the better. A pop of pink on the apples of your cheeks, or a swipe of sheer gloss on your lips, and you’ll hardly need more than tinted moisturizer and mascara to look so fresh, so sophisticated in a low-maintenace-supermodel way, you’ll never care about smoky eyes or bronzer again!
Okay, perhaps that’s taking it a bit too far. But if you’re still not convinced, please put down the brick-red rouge and watch as local make-up artist Angelia creates the perfect pink glow for our April beauty feature—on newsstands now. You’ll also get a rare glimpse behind the scenes of a photo shoot—it’s not nearly as glamorous as it sounds, but it’s definitely worth watching so you can get to the part where I tell you how to do the pink thing at home, and which products I can’t live without.
