Twin Cities shopping and style highlights for the week.
Scout Boutique Grand Opening
Scout has been open for a little under two weeks, and they’re already ready to throw a party with the help of the St. Paul Cheese and Meat Shop and Sleepy V’s doughnuts. Stop by the handsome apparel and gift store’s grand opening to peruse their shirts, home items, and more. Even with the store’s recent debut, customers have already picked out a favorite item—a T-shirt of a fox jumping, echoing the store’s logo and giving more than a little vibe of the forest. Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., normal hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday @ 327 Seventh St. W., St. Paul, 651-493-8276, scoutstyleshop.com
State Fair Fashion Shows
Besides all of the looks you can browse at hot spots like the International Bazaar, the State Fair has its own set of fashion shows. Check out Second Hand Fashion Is for Everyone!, a curation of environmentally friendly brands and thrifts by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, or the four 4-H Fashion Revue Shows for a local and youth-oriented Project Runway-style show. The fair is even hosting a Fitness Fashion Show as part of the Great Yoga & Wellness Get-Together. Second Hand Fashion is Saturday at noon and 2 p.m.; 4-H Fashion Revue is Aug. 27, Aug. 29, Aug. 31, and Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m.; Fitness Fashion is Sept. 2 at noon @ Minnesota State Fairgrounds, 1265 Snelling Ave. N., St. Paul, 651-288-4400, mnstatefair.org
Open Doors at 38th and Grand
The name says it all. Come for shopping at stores like the Fitting Room, Kinoko Kids, and Bower Boutique, and stay for the live music, food and drink, games, and art. Dogs are more than welcome, so don’t be surprised if you’ll find they are offered more than their fair share of doggy treats during your visit. 38th Street W. and Grand Avenue S., Minneapolis, facebook.com
Homespun Craft + Gift Show
Peruse more than 40 local makers’ wares, including Fair Anita, which sells fair trade jewelry, accessories, and clothing made by women in 16 countries; Kaleidosocope Kitty and its natural stone pendant jewelry; and Skyline Specs, a sunglasses shop that changes style depending on the city—it also sells clothing, watches, and accessories. Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. @ Veterans Park Pavilion, 6335 Portland Ave. S., Minneapolis, homespunmn.myshopify.com
