The Divas Return

Love is in the air. So is spunky attitude. There is only one explanation for these unusual occurrences: When a Man Loves a Diva is back at the Lab Theater. The original vocalists—Barbra Streisand, Beyonce, Adele—are the ultimate “divas,” but renditions of their classic love songs have never been heard quite like this.

After a warm reception last summer (and by warm, we mean red-hot) and outstanding reviews, Ben Bakken, Julius Collins III, and Dane Stauffer, the original Diva trio, return for a highly anticipated encore. Under the musical direction of Sanford Moore, the men perform 30 famous songs about L-O-V-E. The Man/Diva Band—including Jay Young, Demetrius Mabry, and Geoff LeCrone—accompanies the vocalists. Together, they will complete the theater-turned-cabaret transformation.

Last summer’s performance included empowering numbers such as Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” and Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman.” These tunes are sure to tug at the heartstrings and bring out the little bit of sass in all of us.

However, it’s not just about the music. The men offer humorous anecdotes, leaving the audience wanting more.

So, what exactly is this all leading up to? It’s quite simple, really: unleash your inner diva, grab your ticket and feather boa, and find out if your all-time favorite love songs made the cut.
