Twin Cities Premium Outlets Opens in Eagan

Metro-proximate high-end discount shopping

Twin Cities bargain hunters may want to clutch their (designer) wallets a little tighter: The new Twin Cities Premium Outlets not only has more high-end brands than most centers, it’s also a lot closer to the metro.

The new center, just off Highway 77 in Eagan, is home to the state’s first 7 for All Mankind, J.Crew, Filson, and Armani outlets and is anchored by a Saks Off Fifth store to replace the recently shuttered downtown outpost. Premium’s co-developers, Simon (the group behind Southdale, Maplewood, Albertville, and other malls) and Paragon Outlet Partners, chose the prime location—its proximate to both the airport and the Mall of America—for its ability to draw both tourists and Twin Cities residents.

For locals, convenience is key, says Simon spokesperson Renee Lawler. “It doesn’t have to be a daylong excursion to the outlet center,” she explains. “With easier access, there’s less planning and more frequent trips involved.” And while most outlet centers are constructed in strip-mall format, Premium’s 409,000 square feet of 100-plus shops is laid out in a half-mile-long oval shape, eliminating the hassle of walking back and forth between your car and the farthest store.

And if you want to strut out of the mall wearing one of your purchases, say, a pair of (half-price) Stuart Weitzman patent-leather pumps, the parking lot features the state’s only snow-melter to ensure you won’t trash your new togs.
