The Beyond Ballroom Dance Company returns to the Cowles as part of its final performance season. Since 2003, BBDC has staged performances showcasing ballroom dancing as an art form, and these final shows include the Red Riding Hood Suite, Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale, and a guest appearance by Burn the Floor dancers. Time-Traveling Twain

WHAT: A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court
WHERE: Guthrie Theater, Mpls.

The Acting Company presents their take on Mark Twain’s classic satirical tale of a 19th-century Connecticut man who wakes up in 6th-century England. Beach Bash

WHAT: Tropical Beach Party
WHERE: Minnesota Zoo, St. Paul
WHEN: 9 a.m.
Escape the cold at the Minnesota Zoo’s Tropical Beach Party, which features a large indoor sandbox (bring your favorite beach toy!), face painting, family activities, animal photo-ops, and educational talks from zookeepers and aquarists.
