The United Artist Collaborative presents indie artist Symone Smash at the New Century Theater from July 10–18. The Minneapolis artist brings an international tone to her Smash It Tour with lyrics in German, French, Italian, and Japanese. The show will include visual and performance art. Brewing over what to do this weekend? Take a weekend getaway or just spend a day in the beer garden at the Hopped Up Caribou Beer Festival in the Caribou Highlands. Eighteen Minnesota brewers will be in attendance, pouring pints and mingling with fellow brew aficionados. Join more than 15,000 crafting connoisseurs at the Anoka Riverfest, nestled into the heart of downtown Anoka. The event originated as a celebration of the in-town intersection of the Mississippi and Rum Rivers, and today the event includes streets filled with crafts from more than 140 artisans, with live music and plenty of food. Join two rocking nights of music at the Basilica Block Party. Just steps from the Basilica of Saint Mary, three stages provide great music throughout the day. Standout artists from Saturday’s lineup include Wilco, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Echosmith. Event proceeds go towards preserving this Minneapolis landmark. Rainbow Running

WHERE: The Minnesota State Fairgrounds, St. Paul

Also known as The Happiest 5K on the Planet, there’s no doubt that even non-runners will take joy in this rainbow-filled run. The untimed race weaves through the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul and ends with a festival at the finish line. Celebrate Bastille Day—sans reenactments of storming the Parisian fortress—in Uptown with the Bastille Day Block Party. The rain-or-shine event will feature music from Gramma’s Boyfriend, Toki Wright & Big Cats, Tropical Depression, and more. In addition, you can sip on cold brews from New Belgium Brewing while perusing a local art market from Light Grey Art Lab and watching the North Star Roller Girls.
