Celebrate with Valleyfair as they put on a Fourth of July weekend barbecue, with three full days of Independence Day picnicking that includes hamburgers, hot dogs, smoked turkey, and sides. For the Love of Hip Hop

Where: Ridgedale Center, 12401 Wayzata Blvd., Minnetonka

The Japanese shopping tradition Fukubukuro involves Happy Grab Bags filled with mystery gifts. It’s making an appearance at Ridgedale Center for the first time, where retailers such as Aveda, Sheer Treasures, and Häagen-Dazs offer bags filled with items 50 percent off. There will also be Lucky Seven Giveaways of $7,000 worth of prizes and a taiku drum performance by Ensō Daiko. Learn more.

The Californa-based indie-pop band Cayucas makes a St. Paul stop on their tour after releasing album Real Life. Twin brothers Zach and Ben Yudin will take the stage to perform what Pitchfork has described as “hooky tropical pop” music, with optimistic lyrics inspired by nostalgia and the “constant evolution of people.” Learn more.

Coco Gets Orchestral

What: Disney Pixar’s Coco in Concert
When: Sunday, July 7, 7 p.m.
Where: Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis

Orchestra Hall puts on a music-and-movie event featuring the Oscar-winning film Coco. Animation and the Minnesota Orchestra collide as part of the orchestra’s Música Juntos Latin American programming, for this year’s Sommerfest, which runs through August 3. For the first time ever, a live orchestra will play along with a screening of Pixar’s animated tale of Miguel, who stumbles upon the Land of the Dead. Learn more.
