Wind & Willow Home Showroom Opens

When Araya Jensen–owner and designer of local home goods maker Wind & Willow–was looking for a new space, she wasn’t looking for a showroom. But once she stepped through the door at 319 West 48th Street in Minneapolis, she realized she’d found something special. Touting big windows, great natural light, and tall ceilings, the space was more than she bargained for–for better or for worse.

“When I moved in the space, there were holes in the ceiling,” she says. “It was a disaster.” But after 43 gallons of paint, plenty of electrical work, various construction projects, and the help of her husband Jordan, the space is picture perfect. It includes office space, a kitchen and bathroom, and a workshop, plus a basement that serves as a shipping and storage area.

The highlight, of course, is the storefront retail space, beautifully displaying Wind & Willow’s bright, hand-made wood spoons and bowls and hand-dyed textiles and pillows, part of a soon-to-launch product line of soft goods. She celebrates the newly-remodeled space with an open house today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you can’t make it today, Jensen says the showroom will be open by appointment plus Small Business Saturday on November 29 and Saturday, December 13, with regular hours to follow in 2015.
