“A Night in November” a one-man play
October 5 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$30One of the most highly acclaimed Irish comedies, A Night in November is a hard and humorous look at “The Troubles” in Northern Ireland during the 1990s. The play follows Kenneth McCallister, an opinionated government clerk who tolerates his wife, his in-laws, and his Catholic boss.
On one fateful night in Belfast, as the Republic of Ireland qualifies against Northern Ireland for the World Cup, Kenneth finds himself watching the fanatical hatred of the crowd rather than the match—an event that profoundly changes his life.
Written by Marie Jones and featuring Alan Smyth, this brilliant and piercingly funny one-man play demonstrates how tolerance is possible even in the face of our most entrenched rivalries. Tim Redmond directs the production.
“A very funny, poignant, dark, passionate and political exploration of two traditions and two tribes and one man’s desire to reconcile his internal divisions, A Night in November mixes polemic and observation onto a rich, rewarding and provocative piece of theatre” – The Sunday Tribune
“Riotously, gloriously funny…a capering, manic joy that is utterly captivating” – Sunday Independent
