Children of Nature: Find Your Wonderland
September 12 @ 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until October 29, 2023
Artist Kristin Maija Peterson’s work explores the question of beauty in the natural world, asking “What is considered beautiful, and what is not?” Witness her stunning environmental artwork, including 24 images of nature, vividly rendered in watercolor and graphite pencil, inviting viewers to go into the world in search of awe and to notice and cultivate the natural spaces and biodiversity just outside their own front doors.
This first-of-its-kind narrative exhibit at the Arboretum blends creative writing and science with each artwork accompanied by a story label, allowing the viewer to experience a deeper connection.
To learn more about Peterson’s inspiration and artistic process, visitors can chat with Peterson in person at Meet & Greet events in the gallery from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Sept. 23 and Oct. 6 — or attend an ArtTalk, facilitated by Arboretum Art Curator Wendy DePaolis, from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Macmillan Auditorium.
Cost: This exhibit is included with general daily admission; $15 for ages 16 and older; free for ages 15 and younger. Indigenous peoples receive waived daily admission to the Arboretum when making a reservation by calling 612-301-6775.
