Fred Steele is a member of the iconic Minnesota musical family The Steeles, and last appeared on the Main Stage in CDT’s presentation of the Broadway musical Swing. He has recorded and performed with Prince, Donald Fagen, Morgan Freeman, The 5 Blind Boys of Alabama, Mavis and Pops Staples, George Clinton and Funkadelic, as well as Ben Vereen and more. His voice has been heard in commercials for Kellogg’s, Levi’s 501 Jeans and many others. Also heard in movie soundtracks such as “Blankman,” “Corrina Corrina” and “Graffiti Bridge.” He has also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra as well as having performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and on Broadway in “The Gospel at Colonus.” He has earned every award presented in Minnesota for music and music education (Sally Ordway Award for Education in Arts), and has continued to educate and excite audiences here and abroad.
