Girlhood (It’s complicated) Book Club: Council of Dolls

April 14 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

The Minnesota History Center is hosting Girlhood (It’s complicated), an exhibit created by the National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. Featuring interactive displays, media components, and over 100 objects from the Smithsonian collection, this powerful exhibit explores how young women have continuously influenced politics, education, work, health, and fashion.

To celebrate the exhibit coming to Saint Paul, the Minnesota History Center has partnered with the Saint Paul Public Library to host a series of book clubs featuring books about girlhood by Minnesota authors.

Our next featured book is Council of Dolls by Mona Susan Power. “From the mid-century metropolis of Chicago to the windswept ancestral lands of the Dakota people, to the bleak and brutal Indian boarding schools, A Council of Dolls is the story of three women, told in part through the stories of the dolls they carried.”

This book club is for adults. Check out a copy from your local library or purchase a copy of your own. This event is free to the public. Reservations are required.
