Want to live longer? One answer is to start lifting weights. According to recent studies from the University of Michigan and British Medical Journal, having stronger muscles is linked to living longer. However, many people may be intimidated or too short on time to start a weight training program.
Life Time’s new group fitness format, UPPER Rx, focuses on this by giving you a pulse-pounding arms, chest and back workout, all in an hour. Across the nation on Thursday, June 27, 127 Life Time locations will host the new class on their pool deck for “Hit the Deck”. The event is free and open to members and nonmembers in an effort to introduce everyone to the benefits that come with a strong upper body. An after party with an assortment of food and drink will follow.
In UPPER Rx, you’ll lift, push and pull your way to strong, tone muscles from the hips up in a guided, weight-training workout that moves from set to set, and incorporates a quick round of core work and metabolic conditioning. The class will develop muscular strength, tone and endurance, enhance your range of motion and fat burning, and increase your lean muscle mass and confidence in weight-lifting.
