June 27, 2024: The History of Fort Snelling’s Round Tower
Built in 1820, the tower was designed as a “last-ditch” defense. A 12-pound field gun was mounted atop the tower once in 1827!

August 29, 2024: Black Regulars — “Buffalo Soldiers” — at Fort Snelling
Join a discussion about the 25th US Infantry “Buffalo Soldiers,” one of four segregated regiments at Fort Snelling during the 1880s, and learn about their connections to the Twin Cities and their legendary 2000-mile bicycle experiment

March 7, 2024: Hearth and Home
We will discuss how and where soldiers and their families, officers, and enslaved people lived in the early years of Fort Snelling and hear some of the stories of people who resided at the fort.
