Preston Day

June 8 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

While Forestville, Minnesota was a successful town early in its history it ultimately failed for a variety of reasons and became the ghost town that we tell the story of today. Even though this town didn’t work there are plenty of places around Forestville that were founded around the same time that survived and are thriving. To explore the success of those communities we’ve invited presenters to speak at Forestville and answer 3 questions:

How was your town founded?
What challenges has your town overcome throughout its history?
What is happening in your town today to continue succeeding as a great place to live for the people who live there?
Join Sheila Craig from the Preston Historical Society as she answers these questions to discuss how Preston got to where it is today. While admission is free for this Presentation there will be a freewill donation taken for the Preston Historical Society with a suggested amount of $5.

To make it easier for Preston residents to attend and compare their town’s story to the story of Forestville, admission to the historic site will be free all day for anyone who calls that community home. Proof of address will be required at the Historic Forestville Visitor Center to take advantage of free admission for the day.
