Rocking the Racetrack welcomes Kentucky Headhunters with Ricochet
June 20 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm

The Kentucky Headhunters, declared “the great American rock ‘n’ roll band” by Billboard magazine are an American country rock and Southern rock band. Their debut album, “Pickin’ on Nashville,” released by Mercury Records, became a hit, selling over two million copies and spawning four consecutive Top 40 country singles. The album won a Grammy Award, three Country Music Awards, an American Music Award and an Academy Of Country Music Award and established them as a musical force to be reckoned with.
“The Kentucky Headhunters,” says founding member, guitarist/vocalist Richard Young, “are and always will be in love with playing live. It’s our lifeblood.” The Grammy-winning band is never more spontaneous and unpredictable as when they are performing live on stage. “We threw away the set list 20 years ago,” says Young, whose brother Fred plays drums, cousin Greg Martin plays guitar and longtime friend Doug Phelps sings and plays bass.
Ricochet will be opening the evening. Country super group Ricochet watched their debut single, “What Do I Know”, rise to the Top 5 earning the band the honor of the highest charting debut single of the year. The follow up single release, “Daddy’s Money”, became an immediate across the board hit, rising to #1 on the Radio & Records Country Singles Chart, the Gavin Country Singles Chart and the Billboard Country Singles Chart (where it stayed #1 for two consecutive weeks). The band’s distinctive musical style and intricate harmonies earned them the recognition as one of the most popular vocal groups in country music, a mantle they still wear today.
