Artistic Partner Richard Egarr returns to lead the SPCO in an exhilarating program, featuring the first SPCO performance of a symphony by German Romantic composer Emilie Mayer, one of the few women symphonic composers of her time. Works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Joseph Haydn bookend the program, with the concerts titular “Drum Roll” Symphony bringing brooding suspense interrupted by bursts of joy.
