Blending scientific principles with practical techniques, this course will deepen your understanding of the science behind each cast. Students will explore the interconnected world of fish behavior, aquatic food webs and ecosystems, and the physics of fly fishing. Open to all skill levels.

Science of Craft is a series through the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories. Explore the intersection of science, nature, and creativity in a unique field course at the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Enhance your skills in a living laboratory alongside scientists who are both experts in their field and talented craftspeople.
