Trace the Line Conversations
February 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree
The Midwest unexpectedly became ground zero for social justice movements last year, and our work isn’t done — we need to continue the conversation. We want to bring our communities together to hear local leaders talk about what’s been done, and what still needs work. Please join Bravebird and Trace the Line in a virtual community dialogue on February 24 at 7 p.m. The event includes the premiere of the trailer for Trace the Line, which will serve as a springboard for discussions led by director Alejandro Miranda Cruz that touch on the critical human and societal issues in the film, highlighting local leaders and efforts to address them:
Introduction: Diem Van Groth, Founder of GV BACK and The Urban Impact, which supports groups working to stabilize North Minneapolis
Black Excellence + Dealing with Trauma: Joselynne Joy Gardner, Assistant Deputy General Counsel, Board of Education of the City of Chicago
Not Being a Bystander: Angela Rose Myers, President of the Minneapolis NAACP
Connecting Across Divides: S.R. Mills, CEO of Bear Development, Kenosha, Wis.
The conversations will be followed by a live Q&A with Porche Bennett-Bey, Founder of the Kenosha groups United as One and Moorish Outreach Coalition, who was named one of Time magazine’s Guardians of the Year in 2020.
