Bring on the Butter!

In the words of the famous butter queen herself, Julia Childs, “Fat gives things flavor.” And, “With enough butter, anything is good!”

And since it’s the holiday season, and many of us will be slaving away in the kitchen or lounging around on vacation days, we’re giving away two books—one practical, the other fiction.

Lard: The Lost Art of Cooking with Your Grandmother’s Secret Ingredient from the Editors of Grit magaazine does just what it says: teaches you how to cook with fat, producing some pretty tasty goods, like biscuits, pie crust, dumplings, and more.

Butter: A Novel, by Anne Panning, is set in rural, 1970s Minnesota, and shares the coming of age story of eleven-year-old Iris facing news of her adoption, her parents’ struggling marriage, and more.

To enter to win this set of fatty reads, tell us your favorite decadent holiday dish in the comments below.

Bon appétit!
