EVENT: Held February 11 at Aria in Minneapolis, Date for Life is an event that brings together bachelors and bachelorettes for a date auction. Proceeds support Children’s Cancer Research Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer and educating the public about the disease. In its eight years, the event has raised nearly $375,000 for the cause.
IN MEMORY: The event honors Katie Jurek, the daughter of Lynn Poferl, COO of It’s Just Lunch, a local dating service. Katie was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer in 2002 while she was in high school, but she continued to live life to its fullest—Katie graduated, went to college, and traveled internationally before her battle ended in 2007.
IT’S A DATE: Along with bidding on potential dates, event attendees (including both singles and couples) participated in silent and live auctions, raising more than $70,000 this year.
