Bloody Marys for Days, the Redneck Way

Whether it’s 8 in the morning, 5 o’clock, or far past the sun setting, a bloody mary is always a good idea—at least in my book.

Tomato-goodness and a kick of spice is a sure-fire answer to plenty of questions, and any kind of new mix I can get a taste of is an immediate celebration in my mouth. That’s why Sportsman’s Redneck Juice Bloody Mary Mix has been buzzing around our office the past week; it brings the just right amount of mouth celebrating.

It almost seems cult-like, the passion you find behind people and the amount of spiciness demanded in their bloody marys, but with two recipes from Sportsman’s Redneck juice, Original and Spicy, it isn’t difficult to find a match. With creamy tomato, plenty of pepper, and just the right consistency, this bloody mix is delicious, even for the unseasoned bloody mary drinkers.

The mix originated at Ed and Missi Fazekas’ family owned bar, The Sportsmans Bar & Grill in Somerset, Wisc. When people started demanding more of their bloodys, the Fazekas answered “Any ol’ way” they could. Redneck Juice was born, housed in a milk carton with an orange juice cap and some duct tape, and we can’t get enough of it.

While I shy away from anything too spicy (I blame my Norwegian taste buds for that), the Original recipe with a splash of vodka is my kind of way to cure a hangover or get the night started. Besides, vodka, gin, tequila, and rum are all comparably delicious, and according to the Sportsman’s website, the mix even works as a steak marinade, ingredient to chili, or an enchilada sauce. I don’t know about you, but I think I’m starting to understand what’s so “redneck” about this bloody mary mix. 

With a smooth texture and spicy bite that follows each sip, the vibrancy of the flavors have you lapping up every drop. Sportsmans Redneck Juice is going to stay one of our office favorites, and we think after a taste, you’d agree, too.
