Cheers to Helping Hire Veterans

You can show your support for helping veterans find jobs by spreading the word about the Hiring Our Heroes program, a nationwide program from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which helps U.S. veterans and military spouses find employment.

How? Help spread the word and donate money with the help of UV Vodka. As an extension of its “Salute to Heroes” campaign, UV Vodka has launched the “Cheers to Veterans” social media campaign to support veterans and their spouses across the United States find employment.

UV Vodka, which is produced by local Phillips Distilling, will be donating over $100,000 to Hiring Our Heroes. The “Cheers to Veterans” campaign, kicking off on Veteran’s Day, November 11, and running through December 2016, encourages consumers to upload a photo of themselves “Saluting to Heroes” on social media using the campaign hashtag #SalutetoHeroes. For every salute shared online, UV Vodka will donate an additional $2 to the campaign.

Who will the program help? As noted on the UV website, since 9/11, more than 2.5 million Americans have served in the Armed Forces, and over the next five years, more than 1 million will transition to civilian life, often facing challenges in finding meaningful employment after they take off the uniform. Last year, more than 573,000 veterans were unemployed, and roughly 53 percent of post-9/11 veterans dealt with a period of unemployment in their first 15 months out of uniform. You can learn more about the program here.

In stores, you will find “Salute to Heroes” information on specially-marked cases, displays and with neck tags on bottles. Participating bars and restaurants will show their support with dedicated signage and through customized red, white and blue drinks.

To learn more about the program and how to share your own salute with the #SalutetoHeroes hashtag, visit http://www.uvvodka.com/salute or on Facebook. (Each post must comply with Terms & Conditions to qualify for the donation.)
