National Rosé Day is on June 13, and what better way to celebrate the summery holiday than with a pink beverage in hand? You may be more of a rosé wine fan, and if that’s the case, make sure to check out our blog all about rosé. However, if you’re looking for something different, add these local beers and ciders to the top of your list. Full disclosure: Not all of them necessarily pull from the rosé-style trend in name per say. But, they are all pink, pretty, Instagramable, and refreshing, and best enjoyed on a patio with friends or out by the lake.

Rosé Sour Cider by Minneapolis Cider Co.

This new, limited-release single varietal cider by Minneapolis Cider Co. has an ABV of 6.5% and gets its tart flavor and pink appearance from Minnesota-grown, red-fleshed Dolgo crabapples. Expect aromas of green apple and spring blossom and a candy-apple-like tartness that will keep you coming back for more.

Roselle by Fair State Brewing Cooperative

Roselle sounds like it’s a play off of rosé, but it’s actually the name of a hibiscus species. However, the color, name, and taste speak to the occasion, so we decided to include it. This hibiscus kettle sour (ABV 5.7%) was originally the second edition of the taproom’s Lactobäc series, but it was so well-received, Fair State decided to keep it year round.

Pinch Flat by Sociable Cider Werks

Like Roselle, Pinch Flat by Sociable Cider Werks is all about the hibiscus—in fact, it was brewed in collaboration with Fair State Brewing Cooperative just last summer. (You can check out our write-up on it right here.) Conditioned on ground hibiscus petals and rose hips, this seasonal cider (6.0% ABV) is tart, floral, and fruity. If you’re looking for something even lighter from Sociable Cider Werks, make sure to check out its new endeavor Squoze Seltzer. There isn’t a rosé-inspired one exactly, but other fruity options include guava, pineapple, and tangerine.

Cider Rosé by Milk & Honey Ciders

This limited release cider from Milk & Honey Ciders is crafted with Winesap and Newtown Pippins apples and is aged on hibiscus, orange peel, rose hips. It’s available at liquor stores throughout Minnesota and off sale at its taproom in St. Joseph.

Super Squishy by Oliphant Brewing

Oliphant Brewing is located in Somerset, Wisconsin, and while its blackberry, raspberry, and coconut sour isn’t necessarily rosé in style, it is pretty in pink, and even better in flavor. Plus, the brewery is showing up for local Minneapolis’ businesses: Just last weekend, Oliphant Brewing donated $2 per every transaction to the We Love Lake Street fund, ultimately raising $1,000 to help small businesses rebuild on Lake Street.
