Event: The Art & Science of Running a Successful Restaurant

You’re at a new restaurant every weekend, can tick off the names of your favorite chefs, and always know what meal to recommend. As a Twin Cities foodie, you’ll want to write the Charlie Awards on your calendar in big, bold letters (Sunday, November 15th, to be exact).

Leading up to the awards is a series of “Hot Topics” panel discussions. Wednesday, October 28 is the final event in the series, and perhaps the most anticipated. Representatives from restaurants and specialists in the food business will discuss what it takes to run a successful restaurant, and will also explore the Working Families Agenda, an especially hot topic to Twin Cities restaurant owners and workers the last couple of weeks.

Panelists include:

  • Scott Foster and Pat Woodring – Nova Restaurant Group

  • Nicklas Frölander – General Mills Corporate Innovation Chef

  • Kristy Meier – Dynamic Products Midwest

  • Tracy Singleton – Birchwood Café
    ”‹
  • Jacob Toledo –  Jester Concepts

  • Pat Weber – Mise en Place Consulting

The Hot Topics event is FREE and open to the public. It will be held at the General Mills Headquarters with a happy hour and heavy hors d’oeuvres to be hosted from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Discussion at 6 p.m. RSVPs are required and can be sent to CharliesExceptionale@gmail.com.

The Charlie Awards is the food event to attend to see local favorites lauded for their exceptional contributions to the Twin Cities restaurant scene, held at Pantages Theatre. Following the event is the Minnesota Monthly after party in the IDS Center Crystal Court, and a 4-course VIP dinner by the 2014 Charlie Award-winning chefs.
