Nationally renowned chef Gavin Kaysen brings the French countryside to downtown Wayzata with Bellecour. Named after La Place Bellecour in France’s gastronomically famous city of Lyon (which is also the hometown of Kaysen’s mentors and fellow chefs Daniel Boulud and Paul Bocuse), the new bistro is the James Beard Award–winning chef’s second restaurant in the Twin Cities metro, following his lauded Spoon and Stable in Minneapolis’ North Loop. Bellecour serves classic French fare including escargots en croûte, duck à l’orange, and deviled eggs. Sommelier Nico Giraud, formerly of Meritage, oversees wines, while Spoon and Stable’s head bartender, Robb Jones, and pastry chef, Diane Yang, run Bellecour’s cocktail program and on-site bakery, respectively. With the help of his wife and collaborator, Linda, Kaysen has transformed the former Blue Point restaurant into an airy dining room with an adjacent patio that is sure to be a lakeside summer sanctuary. • 739 E.
