Kim Bartmann’s third restaurant opening this year (following south Minneapolis sushi spot Kyatchi and the aptly named Tiny Diner) fits right into Loring Park’s bohemian-sophisticated vibe. With an alleyway location and an enigmatic entrance, the former Café Maude dining room is spacious but intimate, its walls covered in Steven Noble’s whimsical man-meets-animal illustrations. The menu highlights all that’s seasonal: pork belly and choke cherry, bison with wild mushrooms, and roasted carrots with coffee glaze, buttermilk curd, and hazelnuts—definitely not food for the birds.
