If you Google “St. Patrick’s Day cocktail recipes” you’ll see more than 2 million entries. Now, no money is on the line here, but I’m betting many of them are green. Of those green drinks, I’m betting many of them are made with a spirit that has something to do with Ireland and many have a predominantly minty flavor. Now, if you’re looking for a green drink that mixes it up with a fruity taste with just a hint of mint, Hornitos tequila has put a twist on the traditional St. Patrick’s Day drink and came up with a green cocktail called Green River Runs Through It—for the O’Hornitos Day spin.
Tequila, made from the flesh of the blue agave plant in Mexico, is a world away from Ireland. The drink also mixes in Green Chartreuse, which is a French liqueur with beginnings dating back to the 17th century. (Now France is a wee closer to Ireland.) Its minty, spicy flavor adds a twist to a cocktail and the go-to green color of the day. Everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Paddy’s Day. Cheers!
