If I told you to drive to Chanhassen for some of the best cocktails I’ve had in the Twin Cities in years, would you do it?
With more than 400 tequilas and mezcals at Tequila Butcher, available neat or in flights, you can do a serious exploration of Mexican spirits. Ralena Young has created terrific whiskey cocktails at sister restaurants in Farmington and Eagan, but she’s outdone herself here.

We tried five cocktails, and all were home runs, including two barrel-aged stunners: a chai tea-spiced tequila Old Fashioned and a margarita unlike any you’ve ever had.
As for the food? Well, by Chanhassen standards it’s awesome. They nailed the smoked pork Cubano sandwich with habanero mustard (nice to see a half-sandwich option for $9). Shrimp and grits were creamy and bright, but all the barbecue dishes were bland and dry.
