EVENT: St. David’s Center for Child & Family Development hosted an informational session, “Investing in the Early Years: The Science of Self Control,” on December 3 at the Calhoun Beach Club in Minneapolis. In attendance were donors, community stakeholders, and parents whose children are in the early childhood education and early intervention programs.
THE CAUSE: St. David’s Center serves as a children’s mental health clinic and pediatric therapy clinic, assisting nearly 2,600 children and their families in community- and center-based programs.
THE LESSON: Each year, “Investing in the Early Years” is held to explore the research and science around the idea that early intervention provides a lifelong impact on a child’s development. Philip Zelazo, a professor at the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development, was this year’s speaker.
