Minnesotan musician/poet Ben Weaver is about to release his second album, Mirepoix & Smoke. To celebrate the record’s release, Bryant Lake Bowl will present a series called Tramping with the Pioneers, bringing together artists from the local culinary, literary, and music communities of the Twin Cities on September 23, September 30, and October 8.
Tramping with the Pioneers: Food
For the performance on September 23, Weaver will focus on his experiences in professional kitchens (The Corner Table, The Craftsman). The performance will include talks and demonstrations by Mike Phillips (Green Ox Foods; former Executive Chef, Craftsman Restaurant, Minneapolis) and Andrew Kopplin (Owner, Kopplin’s Coffee, St. Paul) in tandem with a musical performance by Weaver.
Tramping with the Pioneers: Music
For the performance on September 30, Weaver will feature his literary work along with his music. The performance will feature readings by The New York Times cocktail columnist and author of Dear American Airlines Jonathan Miles, acclaimed Minneapolis writers Dobby Gibson, Lightsey Darst, and 2004 Nightboat Poetry Prize-winner Juliet Patterson.
Official Mirepoix and Smoke Release Show
At 10 p.m. on October 8, Weaver will celebrate the release of Mirepoix & Smoke with a headline set along with special guests The Pines.
