Minneapolis’ Hi-Lo Diner is again proving that nobody does cute, adorable, and lovable like they do. Last year, they made milkshakes, pies, and Hi-Tops (which are denser, yeastier donuts) using Girl Scout cookies, and customers absolutely loved it. So this year, Hi-Lo put out the call to local Girl Scout troops to help with sales. (I’m a sucker for an adorable ask, by the way. Anyone who comes to my door while I’m home gets a sale.) According to Hi-Lo co-owner Rebekah Cook, they got hundreds of troops from the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin submitting poems, emails, videos, songs, raps, and more.
Last year, Hi-Lo made a pie with crushed peanut butter patties, turned Samoas into Hi-Tops, and used Thin Mints in malts and shakes. The peanut butter patties made an appearance in an ice-cream cocktail, too. You can see the great work at the diner within the next couple weeks. Watch all the finalists by clicking here. You only have until February 20th (Tuesday) to vote.
Here are some of my own personal favorites:
“Do you want to make a milkshake, a Hi-Top, or a pie?”
“Hi-Lo, we got your cookies. Yo! Yo!” Don’t miss the Girl Power T-shirt girl dancing!
“Who could make a Girl Scout cookie even better? Hi-Lo!” So adorable, these two sisters from two different troops.
