April showers may bring May flowers, but you don’t have to wait another month to reap a big bouquet. Just pour yourself a glass of Torrontés, Argentina’s signature white wine, and you’ll get a snootful of fresh floral aromas. Though not as well known in these parts as Malbec, its red Argentinean counterpart, Torrontés is starting to win converts with its assertive fragrance and distinctive fruit flavors.
Vida Orgánica Torrontés proclaims its flower power with a bright yellow daisy on the label. Made from certified organic grapes grown by Familia Zuccardi, one of Argentina’s most innovative wineries and a pacesetter in the country’s organic viticulture movement, the wine smells as sweet as orange blossoms yet finishes lively and crisp. You can pick up a bottle at The Wine Shop in Minnetonka, which carries a substantial selection of organic wines from around the world, and raise a toast to the end of those April rains and to the sunny days of May ahead.
