You Can Still Get a Mother’s Day Reservation!

Be the best kid for your Twin Cities mom

The best gift is to cook for mom, but the second best is getting her to a Mother’s Day brunch. No surprise, reservations are in short supply, but I’ve looked for openings (searching generally for tables of four) and they are out there!

Campiello, Eden Prairie is doing a Mother’s Day brunch with shrimp frittata, salmon, pork ribeye, all sorts of good stuff. $35 for adults, $10 for kids. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Edwards Dessert Kitchen in the North Loop of Minneapolis is launching a brunch this Mother’s Day weekend, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. A hash brown waffle with chorizo and fontina cheese, how about Passion Fruit Pain Perdu – with brioche, passion fruit caramel, fresh papaya and caramelized banana. No reservations, so bring the family as it’s new, and I bet you’ll be able to get in.

Fogo de Chao: Nothing says Happy Mother’s Day like an endless parade of meat! Mom’s get a complimentary dining card when you bring her to Fogo. Lots of reservations!

Giulia in downtown Minneapolis has a $34 brunch from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Endless mimosa cart, hand-made fresh mozzarella, plus dishes like shrimp pasta salad, porchetta with salsa verde, smoked salmon with chive and goat cheese, chilled seafood and raw bar, bread pudding French toast and much more.  Reservations at 612.340.0303 or via email:

Jax Café: Mother’s Day brunch with turkey, prime rib and pork tenderloin! $45 for adults, children $18.

Lyn 65 Kitchen in Richfield is one of my favorite spots—they don’t have reservations for four, but there are tables for two.

Monte Carlo: Mom loves this Minneapolis classic! Serving brunch too!

The Normandy Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis has reservations, and a new chef. Patrick Atanalian has moved from Fhima’s to run the kitchen at the Normandy. Because it’s connected to a hotel, it always serves breakfast, but there’s a French flair here with the Croque Madame and a Lardon salad with watercress and poached egg. Lots of reservations available.

The Oceanaire Seafood Room has lots of openings because they’re not usually open for brunch on Sunday. They’re opening early at 11 a.m., with brunch classics including a crab cake benedict and a Maine Lobster Quiche!

Octo Fish Bar in St. Paul: Usually they only do brunch/lunch on Saturdays, but there’s a Mother’s Day Brunch with lots of room. I’d get the pork breakfast burger or the lobster roll!

Red Rabbit in St. Paul and Minneapolis is offering an all-you-can-eat buffet plus free bubbles for mom! $29 for adults, $9 kids.

Spasso Minnetonka: Only a little room left for the Spasso buffet ($30 adults, $16 kids 6-12), but I’m a fan of this Minnetonka Italian restaurant with a great wine list. Brunch is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
