If you thought that vermouth was just a cocktail ingredient, think again. Inspired by a recent vacation to Spain, Rachel is placing all bets on vermouth as this summer’s new favorite drink. Though it is most often used in martinis, vermouth is also a delicious drink by itself, with its varying herbal, sweet and bitter flavors. The fortified wine, which is infused with botanicals, is gaining popularity among Spaniards, often served with sparkling water or an olive or orange as a garnish. Rachel’s recommendations? Italian white and red vermouths Cocci and Cocci di Torino.
