Fall in love with Minnesota’s coldest season again at the Winter SKOLstice festival, held nightly Wednesdays through Sundays at Viking Lakes. This family-friendly gathering includes activities like bingo, trivia, live music, open skate on a beautiful outdoor rink, an ice walk, and an ice sculpture garden (open as weather permits). Pond hockey rinks are available to rent, too.

Rock Out With the Minnesota Orchestra

Jam with Jennings
What: Mason Jennings at the Dakota

Where: Dakota Jazz Club, 1010 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis
Beloved folk-music hero Mason Jennings brings his sound to the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis, the adopted hometown where he started his musical career. Jennings, in the midst of an early spring tour, will perform songs from his decades-long run, including some from his recent albums “Underneath The Roses,” “Holy Dive,” and “Magnifier.”

This series of TEDx Talks, hosted at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, is a community-built event that brings together speakers on a variety of topics. TEDx speakers are all volunteers who are passionate about the ideas and interests they delve into in their talks. This year’s topics include how to ask “courageously,” how to age boldly, how to build loyalty at work, and more.

Golf for Good
What: Bear’ly Open
When: Feb. 7
Where: Ramsey County Beach, 5050 Lake Ave., White Bear Lake
A wacky game of frozen golf on the shores of White Bear Lake helps raise funds for the White Bear Area Food Shelf. Golfers enjoy two custom-designed, nine-hole courses and are encouraged to bring their own golf club—the wackier, the better (past accessories have included hockey sticks, brooms, tennis rackets, and more). Whimsical costumes are also encouraged.
