Minnesota has had a Major League Soccer franchise team only since 2017—but for the legions of Loons fans who flock to St. Paul’s Allianz Field for each match, it feels like a lifelong love.

Minnesota United FC kicks off its 2026 home opener this Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3:30 p.m. against FC Cincinnati. If you’re heading to the stadium to sing “Wonderwall” with the rest of the crowd, here’s a quick match-day guide.

Getting There

You can arrive at Allianz Field on Metro Transit’s Green Line, or via bus, bicycle, or car—there are numerous park-and-ride options around the Twin Cities. The stadium gates open 90 minutes before each match, and most parking lots open two and a half hours before kickoff. The Loons post a “Know Before You Go” article before each match, so check the MN United website for the details of your specific visit day.

Where to Sit

You’ve probably got your tickets already, but if you’re a first-time fan, know that the general admission section of Allianz is the dedicated supporters’ purview, with standing-room-only crowds and plenty of coordinated cheers and sing-alongs. For a slightly more relaxed experience, reserve seats elsewhere in the stadium.

What to Eat

Like many modern stadiums, Allianz has elevated its concession offerings beyond the traditional popcorn and hot dogs. There’s beer, wine, seltzers, and spirits, plus a great selection of nonalcoholic options (including cold-brew coffee if you need a mid-match caffeine hit). Snacks include fried cheese curds, chicharrónes, soft pretzels, and nachos; or, reach for a sweet treat like mini donuts, ice cream, or beignets. Food stands are conveniently located all around the concourse. You can also visit the Grand Casino Brew Hall, a full-service pub serving up local brews and food in an open-air space.

Tips and Tricks

Before you arrive at Allianz Field, familiarize yourself with what you can bring. The stadium’s bag policy allows each guest one clear bag no larger than 12”x6”x12” (or a one-gallon, clear zip-top bag); a small clutch no larger than 5”x9”; and diaper and medical bags with no size restrictions. Empty plastic water bottles are a yes (you can fill them up once you’re inside), but outside food and beverages aren’t allowed.

Allianz is kid-friendly, with a playground next door, free tickets for tots 2 and under, and changing stations all over the stadium.
