Classic, homey soul food is the latest addition to Rosedale Center’s Potluck food hall. (Food editor Jason DeRusha recently named the mall’s dining destination among the best new restaurants of 2020.) Adam’s Soul To Go is a new restaurant from chef Adam Randall, the former owner and chef of Caribbean Smokehouse in Stillwater. The menu features comfort food, like Randall’s signature smokehouse ribs, pulled pork sandwich, jalapeño johnny cakes, tostadas, and sopes.
Randall, who uses recipes passed down by family members, launched Adam’s Soul To Go to act as a one-stop-shop for both authentic Mexican street food and traditional soul food. Diners have a choice from Southern-inspired dishes like smoked St. Louis ribs, smoked wings, a pulled pork sandwich and buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. If they favor Latin flavors, there is Mexican roasted pork, breaded shrimp, chicken alambre or carne asada. The sides include french fries, collard greens, beans and rice and Granny Smith apple cole slaw.
The restaurant fills a space left vacant by Smack Shack, which now shares a roof with Burger Dive at Potluck. The revamped food court, which was once a two-story Borders bookstore, opened in November 2019.
The food hall kicks off a “Winter Wonderland” event on Nov. 9 with a special menu available through the end of December offering holiday-inspired food items. The menu features an orange cranberry biscuit and Minne“sno”ta chocolate shortbread cookies at Betty & Earl’s, an egg nog shake at Burger Dive/Smack Shack, fig hummus with pomegranate served with cinnamon pita chips at Chickpea, and the “Very Berry Wonderland Waffle,” “Turkey Express Waffle,” and candy cane cocoa at Nordic Waffles, among other offerings.
