Party Like It’s Prince Week

Events across the Twin Cities celebrate the music, art, and enduring impact of Minnesota’s most iconic star

As Minnesota remembers Prince 10 years after his death—and honors him on what would have been his 68th birthday on June 7—events and activations are popping up this week all over the Twin Cities. Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey announced that June 1-7 would be Prince Celebration Week in Minneapolis, and venues and arts groups (including Prince’s onetime home and studio, Paisley Park) are in on the action.

If you’re looking for a place to gather with fellow fans of the Purple One this week, here’s a handy list of the goings-on.

Each day this week, Paisley Park is hosting events—from guided museum tours and showings of “Prince in Concert: 3121 Live from the Rio Las Vegas 2007” to open houses and outdoor activities. Tickets required. princecelebration2026.com

Community activations are planned each day at the Minneapolis memorials for George Floyd, Renee Good, and Alex Pretti, plus a focus on recovery for the city’s Eat Street corridor. princecelebration2026.com

Lace up your sneakers any time and follow the Purple Path, a Minneapolis-wide tribute to Prince’s legacy in the city. Downtown locations include the Dakota Jazz Club, First Avenue, the Prince mural, and more. Maps available with all 20 locations and more details. minneapolis.org

Stop by the Meet Minneapolis Visitor Center to see Prince items on display, including a replica motorcycle from 1984’s “Purple Rain” film and a 5-foot replica of Prince’s iconic “cloud shoe” from his “Raspberry Beret” music video. On Wednesday, June 3, First Avenue hosts the First Avenue Prince Celebration 10th Anniversary Kickoff Party with special guests Chaka Khan and DJ Lenka Paris. Tickets required. princecelebration2026.com

More panels are planned at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis for Friday, June 5, including with Prince-orbit luminaries Morris Day, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. In the evening, head to the Armory for the Prince Celebration of Life 10th Anniversary Concert, which will feature members of NPG and the Revolution, plus many other musical guests. Raise your voice at the Prince Celebration Block Party and Sing-Along at downtown Minneapolis’ Prince mural on Saturday, June 6. Attend the official opening of the People’s Museum for Prince at Roberts Gallery in Minneapolis on Sunday, June 7. Exhibits, which are up through June 27, include more than 40 artists who tell their own stories of the Purple One. Before the 2 p.m. opening, local historian Kristen Zschomler offers a free walking tour of the North Minneapolis neighborhood where Prince grew up.
