For over 25 years, the St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour has attracted thousands to the region just west of the St. Croix River known for its wealth of artists. Typically, some 50 potters would open their studios in May, welcoming locals, road trippers, and folks nationwide to buy one-of-a-kind works fresh off the wheel. This year, they’re doing it virtually at minnesotapotters.com.
Fifty-seven artists are selling their latest wares via online shops, launching Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m., and running through May 10. The move came about following considerations of the impact quarantine due to COVID-19 will have on artists who normally do the tour. Many have found these three days financially critical.
Using an online shopping directory, anyone can browse the individual artists’ wares, buy directly from their “web shops,” or email them to set up video-chat appointments to discuss purchases further.
