The shuttered Uptown Theatre in Minneapolis updates a line from 1994 cult classic “Clerks”

Starting in mid-March, Minneapolis and St. Paul changed from bustling cities to ghost towns. A series of orders issued by Gov. Walz closed businesses and urged Minnesotans to stay at home to help “flatten the curve” for our healthcare providers as local cases of COVID-19 began to emerge. The changes have hit nearly every aspect of life, and these images evoke life in a parallel universe—except this is no fantasy. Our photographers captured the desolation, but also the hope.
