On February 3, Super Bowl Sunday, maybe you’ll pull up a stool at Uptown TavernMoose Bar & Grill, the Pourhouse, the Hewing Hotel, Cowboy Jack’s, Punch Bowl SocialHideaway Burger Bar, Minneapolis’ new La Doña Cervecería, or any other pub across the Twin Cities—for deals and hyped company.

Or, maybe, for a new perspective in the new year, you’ll enjoy football’s big moment with dogs, knitting, and drag queens—the twists we expect in 2019.

Dogs of MSP February Meet-Up

Feb. 3, 1-4 p.m.

Lakes & Legends Brewing Company, 1368 Lasalle Ave., Minneapolis

The Dogs of MSP exceed your average Meetup group. (They sell “woofda” puppy sweaters.) This month, they’ll convene at their old haunt, the patio-inspired Lakes & Legends Brewing Company in Loring Park, on Super Bowl Sunday. And no surprise: They’re going full pug. Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl starts playing on the big screens at 2 p.m., and, tangentially, they’ll have a Valentine’s Day setup for Instagram selfies. Bring your pooch, order a beer, and stick around for the human game.

Super Bowl Sunday Knit Night

Feb. 3, 4-6 p.m.

Sisters’ Sludge Coffee Cafe & Wine Bar, 3746 23rd Ave. S., Minneapolis

Men can knit. Heck, men should knit. Jay Katzenberger hosts men’s knitting gatherings across the Twin Cities, and this Sunday, he holds no pretenses. “Back to our favorite table for a few hours of knitting, chat, and consuming of coffee, wine, or beer!” the Facebook event description reads. “There may also be a sportsball game on or something…” Bring your yarn to Sisters’ Sludge.

Big Gay Super Bowl Party

Feb. 3, 5-10 p.m.

Lush, 990 Central Ave. NE, Minneapolis

When northeast gay bar Lush does the Super Bowl, the halftime show is the main event. (“Come watch men in tight pants chase each other around a field before and after the Lady Gaga concert!” an ad read in 2017.) Maroon 5 circa 2019 is sure to be…good? Either way, premier drag queen Victoria DeVille will guide a convivial evening, with a $10 cover that includes a buffet of wings and nachos plus Jell-O shots in team colors for every touchdown.
