A water theme always goes over well in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. The latest entry is a West Coast–themed boutique on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. 44 North is filled with contemporary women’s apparel, shoes, accessories, gifts, and beauty products from brands not sold anywhere else in Minnesota, including buzzy L.A. denim label Calvin Rucker, Aussie women’s wear designer Rebecca Vallance, and a range of lifestyle goods by Aerin Lauder (granddaughter of Estée), in addition to popular national labels such as Bailey 44, Splendid, and Chan Luu.

Owners Jodi Coughlin and Molly Kleiman took inspiration from the California coast, giving the space creamy wood-paneled walls, brass accents, and an open, airy feel. Its location at the new Promenade of Wayzata, a shopping and luxury condo development adjacent to Lake Minnetonka, makes 44 North a prime destination for picking up a quick hostess gift and a boat party–ready outfit alike. • 44northboutique.com
