It is fitting that the Best of MN issue is my first as the magazine’s new editor. As a subscriber, it has always been my favorite issue of the year. I love how the “Best of” spotlights emerging stars, introduces diverse ideas, and supports those in the community who are making a real impact. Actually, those are all values that have clearly guided each issue of Minnesota Monthly for nearly 55 years, and they represent a collective legacy that I plan to continue as editor.

I’m thrilled to bring my decades of experience to Minnesota Monthly, a publication I have long admired. As a past features editor at the St. Paul Pioneer Press and at other publications across the state, I have worked with talented team members to cover many similar lifestyle topics reflected in this magazine—arts and culture, style, health and wellness, travel and dining, and outdoor activities—while also keeping an eye out for innovative ideas and trends shaping our amazing state. And like my predecessors, I truly welcome your thoughts, insights, and feedback on our continuing coverage of the Spirit of Minnesota in print, online, and through our social media feeds. Watch for me in the community at our many events, and please introduce yourself and share your story with me. (Or email me at anelson@greenspring.com.)

In recent weeks, many of my friends and colleagues have commented that this new role is a perfect match for both me personally and for the magazine, and I hope you come to agree. When former editor Reed Fischer left to pursue his “dream job” (congratulations!), his departure allowed me the opportunity to step into my own “dream job” here. I’d call that the “Best of” both worlds.

As Travel Editor of Minnesota Monthly, Amy creates impactful, surprising, timely and insightful content that reflects the Spirit of Minnesota. An award-winning newspaper and magazine editor based in the Twin Cities, Amy has decades of experience guiding coverage of luxury living, arts and culture, style and travel topics across multiple platforms. She has interviewed personalities ranging from Prince to Roger Goodell and has stories to tell.
