European Christmas Market Returns to Union Depot

St. Paul’s hottest spot to eat, drink, and be merry is back starting Nov. 29

Let the countdown begin! St. Paul’s beloved winter tradition, the European Christmas Market, will return to Union Depot for four consecutive weekends starting Friday, Nov. 29. The largest of its kind in Minnesota, the European Christmas Market brings the charming vibe of old-world holiday markets to Lowertown, with food, gifts, and festivities for all.

A one-stop-shop for holiday gifts, the market will feature over 70 wooden kiosks offering handmade toys and plushies, cozy woolen goods, pottery, and more. Sip hot chocolate, mulled wine, or an exclusive Christmas Market Pils from Summit Brewing Co. while you browse—and yes, the fan-favorite commemorative mugs are making a comeback. Get a taste of European-inspired flavors from the market’s food vendors, including authentic German brats, Polish pierogi, crepes, and more.

Each weekend will feature festive entertainment, including dancers, live music, and visits from (and letters to) Santa, and holiday light displays.

New this year are extended hours for guests—11 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays—and enhancements to two key areas of the market. The South Village has expanded by 30%, with wider walkways and a new layout to reduce congestion, and the East Plaza has updated its distribution of food vendors for a more seamless dining experience.

“We’re thrilled to bring the market back to Union Depot and enhance guest experience this year,” says Maurina Rondeau, marketing and events manager at Union Depot, in a statement. “Each season, we strive to make the event even more enjoyable, and we can’t wait to share the changes with everyone.”
