Practicing Wellness With Radisson Blu Mall of America

Radisson Blu and Mall of America hosted us for a focused day of health and wellness experiences

On Thursday, May 16, Radisson Blu and Mall of America (MOA) hosted a spring wellness retreat that ran the gamut of the hotel and shopping center’s health and fitness possibilities. Tapping into a restoration of the mind, body, and spirit, our retreat brought us everything from organic, gourmet meals to a private candlelit yoga session. The restorative itinerary shines a spotlight on the diverse capabilities of Mall of America.

9:30 a.m. – Breakfast provided by FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar

Our wellness retreat began with a prompt room service delivery to room 854 at Radisson Blu. My guest and I enjoyed breakfast in bed, savoring the farm-to-table menu offerings of the hotel’s connected restaurant, FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar. I enjoyed the Avocado Brioche Benedict, which featured an overlay of roasted asparagus, while my guest opted for the FireLake Chia Pudding, a delicious gluten- and dairy-free option dressed up with candied almonds and toasted coconut.

11 a.m. – Two-mile wellness walk through Mall of America

If there is any sure way to get your steps in for the day, it is traversing the three floors of the 5.6-million-square-foot Mall of America. A lap around each level of the mall is equivalent to over a mile, if you stick to the exterior wall—a great exercise alternative for the many months when it is too cold to walk outside in Minnesota. To help walkers track their progress, MOA features designated walking routes created in partnership with M Health Fairview, which include a one-mile, 5K, and 10K path. That morning, we walked the one-mile path twice, each time on a different level of the mall. As we walked, I took note of the frequent M Health Fairview directional signs, which seamlessly point shoppers along the route of their chosen walking path.

12 p.m. – Candlelit restorative yoga class at the Lululemon store

Our wellness walk finished at Lululemon, where we were graciously welcomed and offered a tour of the experiential store’s fuel space cafe, fitness studio, men’s and women’s locker rooms, meditation room, and shopping floor. We were then shown to our mats in the candlelit fitness studio to enjoy a restorative yoga class. Approachable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike, the class focused on breath work, meditation, static poses, and long body stretches, leaving us relaxed and rejuvenated for the remainder of our retreat. The multifaceted fitness studio offers weekly classes that range from beginner’s yoga to HIIT routines. Pre-book here or drop in.

1 p.m. – Post-workout smoothie and shopping at Lululemon

Upon wrapping up our class, we were offered chilled towels and led into the store’s meditation room (which doubles as private event space), where the smoothies we pre-ordered from the fuel space sat waiting for us. I sipped on the Chocolate Blueberry ABC, a blend of blueberries, almond butter, and cacao powder, as we began browsing the store space. The Lululemon team surprised our group by offering one complimentary item of our choice, which we spent the afternoon diligently selecting. In the end, I landed on a black Lululemon Align Dress, a seamless embodiment of the tennis-core trend that has been taking over this spring.

Our complimentary 0.5k snack bags, lined up at Radisson Blu’s pool area

3:30 p.m. – 0.5k break snack bags at the Radisson Blu pool

After an afternoon of downtime, we headed to the pool area back at Radisson Blu, where we were presented with 0.5k Break snack bags and two complimentary passes to Nickelodeon Universe, the mall’s 7-acre indoor theme park. Supplementing our relaxing yoga experience with an evening of thrills, Radisson Blu proved just how important a factor balance can be along wellness journeys. Fueled, relaxed, and invigorated, I left Radisson Blu later that evening with a heightened appreciation for the diversity of experiences possible at Mall of America.
