After working together for several years at another fine jewelry store, Jenifer Bellefleur and Kelsey Lee-Karol launched New Gild Jewelers. The charming Linden Hills storefront takes a more casual approach to fine jewelry, offering a mix of custom options and readymade pieces created by local and national independent jewelers, as well as jewelry repair and antique restoration services. Bellefleur and Lee-Karol also sell their own designs, crafted by Lee-Karol in an open workshop located near the front of the store, which gives clients a first-hand look at the jeweler’s process. The pair takes the custom-design process a step further than most other jewelers: Instead of having clients choose from settings and diamonds, “we literally invent things completely from scratch around a client’s preferences,” explains Lee-Karol. • newgild.com
